An interesting and coherent view of IT business alignment and core service delivery processes is depicted in the Leveraged Management of IT Assets that is a State of North Carolina initiative. This diagram validates my own assertions about elements for success.

Two papers that add to the IT/business alignment body of knowledge are Connecting IT Theory with Industry Best Practices and Quantifying IT Benefits.

I also recommend Collaborative Information Systems Development, which is a page that is rich in content with the underlying theme of unifying IT into a team. This is a step up from most IT organizations, which are too often independent and warring factions that work at cross purposes.
