What this weblog is about:We started this weblog to chronicle the:- disconnect between IT and the business processes that IT exists to support
- internal fingerpointing that goes on within IT and makes us look like idiots to the business units we're supposed to be empowering with our solutions
- games that consultants play
As IT professionals and consultants, our objective is to hold up that mirror and take a good look. Because we care about our profession we are going to also report best practices, lessons learned and anything else we can find, devise or use to make the image that looks back from the mirror a face that we'd like to have others see - a reflection of excellence and professionalism. We'll also see it in the faces of those who we support. Hence, the title of this weblog, Postcards from the Revolution - we're in the midst of a growing revolution to do the right things the right way for the right reasons. If you are in IT or engaged in IT consulting for a living you should bear in mind that there are no sidelines - you're either a part of the solution or you're a part of the problem ... and problems usually get outsourced (i.e., become unemployed).
